We pushed our bikes up the gravel road over the mountain, through rivers, faster than the clouds of sandflies could catch us. Oh! we were so pooped!
The next day we road from Murchison for 10 km, got 2 flat tires, ran out of tubes, and hitchhiked with a fisherman in his Ford 250 (one of only 15 in NZ he boasted) This is just a pretty shack we ran into at the fishing docks.
At Docks, waiting for our ride to continue on to Greymouth.
I made Aaron a HUGE strawberry birthday cheesecake! So YUM! I had to crush the hardest ginger cookies in the world with a hammer for the bottom crust....it took ages!
International food night at the hostel. Our homemade mac n' cheese was a hit.
Hi all, We just wanted to post a quick update. We're about to leave Blenheim; we worked for about a month in the vineyards and it is time for another bike trip. This time we are heading for the Abel Tasman National Park to do a little hiking and sand fly swatting. After that we'll probably bike down the west coast of the South Island because we miss cycling in the rain and then hop on the Tranzalpine Railway to Christchurch, where we will try to WWOOF until Aaron's parents come in early March. We were happy to come to Blenheim--we have made some really good friends and have taught a dozen or so people how to play ultimate frisbee--but we're also happy to leave and start a new adventure! We'll post some picture as soon as we find a free computer. Love and happiness to all!
